view of coast of Phnom Bong, Kampot Province, Cambodia

This is the beach area of this seaside area. Hard to find unless you are from the area. Worth the trip though. The view is GREAT!! Posted by Picasa

Picture of fishing fleet and islands at Phnom Bong

Today was a lovely day to be out dirtbiking. Tim and I left early, at 7am for a bowl of soup at Ong Mong and then headed to Phnom Vor, the old Khmer Rouge stronghold. We stoped at a friends house. Tim usually teaches English on Saturday mornings but only about five children came so he will teach tomorrow. We then headed over the mountain pass and got quite a view on both ends. This was the place where in 1995 ,3 backpackers were kidnapped by KR and killed. Tim had arrived earlier that year to check out the province.
We then headed for Phnom Leo on the road going to the big boarder with Viet nam. At this time there is still no way for an expat to go over into Viet Nam. Our Son-in-law wasn't working today so we didn't bother to go to Pray-Chat which is the border crossing. He is 2nd in charge there till they do the change over. We then headed from Phnom Leo to Phnom Bong which is where I shot the picture above. You have a close up view of the islands of Cambodia. What a sight! The tide was low and fishermen from the fleet were walking from the boat to shore. We headed home and quickly took a shower then headed to our favourite eatery. "Lucki Food". It's owned and operated by our Sri lankan friend Lucky who has been in Cambodia for 10 years also. If you want good Indian and Sri Lankan food go to the old market near the riverside and you will see a sign by the old fish market right on the river directing you to him. He has daily specials and free dishes for every one you purchase. I need a weekly fix of Indian food to stay happy... well...
Hope to put on other pictures of our trip today. Posted by Picasa
